Why we don’t have an inquiry form
We intentionally do not maintain an open inquiry form or large waitlist at Unfurling Littles. We know how exhausting it can be for families to submit inquiry after inquiry, often without knowing whether a provider actually has the capacity to help. We don’t want to collect your information if we cannot meaningfully respond to it. Instead, we prioritize referrals through our established community partners and providers. This allows us to grow thoughtfully, consider fit and capacity before beginning the intake process and be more responsive to families once we invite them into our community. Our goal is not to maximize the number of families entering our doors. It is to make sure we have the space, relationships, and resources to care well for the families who do.
Child Led ABA

We center your child’s autonomy, interests, values, communication and sense of safety. Rather than asking children to fit into a predetermined idea of what they should look like, we focus on building skills that are meaningful to the individual child and their everyday life.
Our approach combines the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with play-based learning, naturalistic teaching, and principles informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
What does “child-led” mean?
Child-led does not mean that children are expected to navigate everything on their own or that adults never set limits. Children need adults who can provide safety, predictability, support, and boundaries.
Instead, being child-led means that we pay attention to what the child is communicating and bring our goals into their world whenever possible. Their interests may become the context for learning. Their communication including gestures, movement, behavior, AAC, speech, and other forms of expression is taken seriously. When a child shows us that something is not working, we get curious about why rather than simply focusing on increasing compliance.
We want children to learn that their voice matters.
What are we working toward?
Goals are individualized and developed collaboratively with children and their caregivers. Depending on the child, support may focus on areas such as:
-
Communication and self-advocacy
-
Emotional awareness and regulation
-
Building and maintaining relationships
-
Navigating transitions and changes
-
Daily living and independence
-
Flexible problem-solving
-
Participating in home, school, and community routines
-
Identifying and communicating boundaries
-
Developing skills that increase access, autonomy, and quality of life
A different relationship with ABA
We believe our field has a responsibility to acknowledge its history and continue evolving. That means regularly asking not only “Is this intervention effective?” but also “Is this goal meaningful? Is it respectful? Does it increase this child's autonomy? Is there another way we could understand what they are communicating?”
Training in Neurodiversity Affirming Care
We offer training for practitioners seeking to align their work with neurodiversity-affirming values. Support is available through one-time consults, ongoing mentoring, and trainings for schools and organizations.
Birthday Parties and Events
We host sensory-considerate, child-led birthday celebrations where every child is welcome and free to be themselves. Our space is designed to reduce overwhelm and support joyful, low-demand play. We offer three tiered options starting at $500 for a 2-hour celebration, with add-ons available. Parties can host up to 20 children, require a 3-week booking window, and a 50% deposit holds your date. Please email Maggie.H@unfurlinglittles.com to inquire!
